Helping Clients Get Fair Compensation for Defective Vehicles
Like most states, New Jersey has a "lemon law" that provides specific consumer protections to the purchasers of new automobiles that have proven defective. Under this law, automakers are required to either replace these vehicles or fairly refund purchasers their money.
At the law firm of Shivers, Gosnay & Greatrex, LLC, our Cherry Hill lemon law lawyers help consumers throughout South Jersey assert their rights under state law. Whether you need assistance getting a replacement vehicle or obtaining full and fair compensation, we can help.
Holding Manufacturers Accountable to Their Legal Responsibilities
New Jersey's lemon law covers vehicles that are less than two years old and have been driven less than 18,000 miles. A vehicle is considered a lemon if it has a defect that still exists after three or more repair attempts or if it has been out of service for a total of more than 20 days.
If your vehicle qualifies as a lemon under the law, the manufacturer has a final chance to attempt to repair it within a reasonable amount of time. If the repair attempt is unsuccessful, the manufacturer can offer to replace your vehicle, but you are not required to take this offer.
If the manufacturer does not offer a replacement vehicle or you do not accept it, you are entitled to a refund of the purchase price minus an allowance for your use of the vehicle.*
Automakers and dealers often try to evade their responsibilities under the lemon law. If you are not getting the results you deserve, you may need to bring a lawsuit in order to force the manufacturer to do what it is legally required to do. That is where our firm can help.
Our attorneys will work with you to carefully document the problems with your car. We will then diligently pursue the repairs, replacement vehicle or compensation you deserve.
